Responsibility

  1. Share the responsibility.
Being safe is everyone’s business. That includes the people who make, sell, serve and consume our products. We all play a part in making sure that all alcoholic beverages are enjoyed carefully and in moderation. Each one of us can prevent alcohol misuse, drunk driving and underage drinking.
  2. Look out for yourself.
Drinking age is thinking age and if you’re over 21, you’re old enough to take full responsibility for your actions. Using alcohol is a choice, so know your limits. And if you’ve been drinking, don’t drive – anything. When you’re in control, you can make the right choices and still have a good time.
  3. Take care of others.
Don’t let your friends take chances with their lives and the lives of others. Don’t hesitate to encourage someone to save the next one for next time. Taking care of others also means refusing to allow underage drinking under any circumstances.
  4. Get help if you need it.
If you or someone you know is showing signs of alcohol abuse or dependence, there are many places to turn for help. Most communities have substance abuse education and treatment resources for adults and teens. If you’re unsure where to start, talk to your personal doctor or local hospital.
